Monday morning fact

There is . . . . . . there has to be! A gremlin loose in this house with a mean streak!! While I was off in 'dreamland' he threw fertilizer in my clothes hamper and over my kitchen counters and they . . . . . . . Well, you just can't imagine! I'm lost for words!! When I woke near five this morning and stumbled from my bed I found dirty clothes and dishes all over the place!! So, guess you know what I'll be doing for most of today. :-(

Circle & Cross closeups

Hopefully these closeup pics will be of some help in determining the work. These circles are weaved by the looks, and most likely the trees too.

Chicken scratch or what ?

This is a piece from a bag of 'old stuff' that my DH's aunt asked me if I wanted a couple of years ago from her mother's treasures. Lately I've been admiring all the chicken scratch and vintage items that Linda and other handcraft ladies have been showing on their blogs and websites, and thought maybe someone out there could tell me exactly what sort of handwork this is? And also what would it be used for? TIA As time allows I will take photos and post other pieces from the 'bag of old stuff.'

On Sunday . . .

. . . . . . DH and I went for a leisurely late afternoon drive which was very enjoyable as the sun shone brightly and the countryside sparkled with brilliant greens and wonderful colours mixed in. I had been reading earlier on both Greenberry House Days and Dreams and Woolybuns blogs about a Bunny meeting at Avillion over the weekend so you can imagine my surprise and delight when we happened upon this Bunny Convention on a lawn at Pembroke Shore. It would seem these Nova Scotian bunnies had decided to have a meeting of their own. {g} Aren't they adorable?! As we drove away I mentioned to DH that if I were a child again my fondest wish at that moment would be to go back and sit among those bunnies. He never said a word . . . . . . just smiled.

On Saturday . . .

. . . . . DH and DD began what I refer to as the annual 'gathering of the wood' in preparation for the coming winter months . . . . . . that will be here before we know it. My Basenji, Dream, loves to 'supervise' any happenings here at Wine Brook Cottage and Saturday was no different. In order to make her happy and yet keep her out of harm's way I let her roam the upstairs balcony as her Daddy returned with the first load of wood. There's always a hugh amount of work involved when you do burn wood but the benefits are wonderful. Plenty of physical exercise and fresh air, and the heat from wood beats any other that our aging bones have encountered.

From the UFO pile . . . . . .

No, this object has never flown through the air so I did not retrieve it from an 'Unidentified Flying Object' pile. It was among items termed 'Unfinished Objects' and is one that I've begun work on again after leaving it to go off to new adventures in the handcraft world. Slap my fingers should I begin something new before most of the UFOs are completed. Linda over at Chloe's Place has been an inspiration for me to strive forward to complete my own UFOs. This pretty little latch hook rug has a home waiting for it by my kitchen sink as soon as it is ready.

Love of animals . . . . . .

My two are certainly 'chips off the old blocks' when it comes to being animal lovers. Taking you back in time a bit with this photo to the early 80s. My children with two of their favourite friends and playmates . . . . . . Pepper, the neutered Nubian male goat and Missy, the part Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that my DH 'adopted' from the Dog Pound in Halifax. Both were wonderful pets and much loved and enjoyed by all our family members. I have always been so thankful that we were able to have various animals at different stages in our lives, for I truly believe every child should grow up being exposed to animals and the lessons they can teach us.

Wonderful!

Pictures add so much to a posting. I am pleased to have managed to get moving on with adding pictures. Thanks Linda! :-) It's been very enjoyable reading the postings and seeing the pictures on various blogs of the goats, bunnies, dogs, chickens (didn't I see chickens somewhere?), spinning, knitting, various handwork actually, horses, etc., etc. Now that I've overcome the hurdle of adding pics to blog postings it will be great to share some of my own here. I hope those of you viewing my blog will enjoy what I do put up.

Little garden image

An early morning experiment to see if using the new and easy way to upload your images along with a posting here can be done by yours truly. I am a typist. I have never claimed to be 'computer wise.' So, if this does indeed work, you should be looking at a picture of the little garden beside my backdoor step. Oh yes . . . . . . along with the rocks and flowers is some good old Nova Scotia fog there in background.

A bit of a giggle . . .

A snail was moving along the beach when he happened to look back behind him and saw three turtles wearing leather jackets. After moving along for about four weeks, the snail looked back again and saw that the three turtles were still there and closing in on him. So, the snail picked up his pace. After about six more weeks, the snail looked back again, and saw that the turtles were still chasing him. And they were getting closer and closer! So, he kept on going as fast as he could. After another few weeks, the turtles finally caught up with the snail and mugged him, took all his clothes and the keys to his car. After another couple of weeks, the snail got to a pay phone and called the police. "I've been mugged by three turtles wearing leather jackets! You need to get down here and take a report or do something!" he said. "Can you give us a description of the turtles?" asked the police officer. "No, I can't. It all happened too fast!" cried the snail.

It's been a while . . .

. . . and yet I'm only here for a short time again. I've been wandering . . . . . . and today will be no different as I leave shortly for Darling's Lake where I plan on wandering through the cemetery. It's been a while since I visited . . . . . . and it's time. I feel the urge to go there quite strongly this morning. Afterwards, I'll stop in and visit with relatives and friends . . . . . . if they're at home. The grass will be long there on the side of the hill where I used to sit with my first half Basenji, Kelly, and look out over the lake and the woods and on towards the ocean. Things have changed so much over the years . . . . . . God does not give mankind the power to hold life still.
