Happy Belated Birthday Dream!

Yesterday was my Dream's 9th birthday. Isn't she beautiful? My constant companion ..... my 'angel with the tarnished halo' ..... my 'little kid' ...... and sometimes 'rotten little kid' ..... my heating pad ....... my friend ........ all this and more ....... she has brought many new friends into my life ..... Basenji friends who understand my love of these semi-wild barkless dogs from the jungles of Africa ...... Dream was the fulfilment of a 25 year old dream of having another Basenji ..... she has done her part well. I am looking forward to many more years of loving and living with this Basenji that I feel God placed in my life for a good purpose.

Haven't had a lot of time, or energy, for posting lately and wouldn't you know that when I do, blogger won't let me upload pics. How disappointing is that? It's Dream's 9th birthday today and I had hoped to put up a picture of her taken this afternoon. Maybe later ......... It's a busy time of year around here, and has nothing to do with Christmas and that chaos. Mostly the hectic pace is due to lobstering and I've been voted 'chief cook and bottle washer' for the homefront. Electric stove, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer are all much appreciated! Even so I've hardly had time to catch my breathe between chores. Only a bit of picture taking and computer work has been accomplished before falling into my bed in the evening. Though I've written little here on my blog, I have been trying to keep up with reading the regular blogs that I visit. 'Someday' things will return to 'normal' around here ............ 'someday' .......

Until next time ........... take care all .............

First snowstorm of the season

Yesterday we received our first snowfall, even though winter will not officially be here until the 22nd.

The weather report said 'flurries,' which is how it all began.

A few short hours later our world had become a winter wonderland.

Unexpected beauty as the day ended .......

Last Monday was Dumping Day .......

in this area of Nova Scotia, when the fishing boats headed out to sea to set their traps for the start of the lobster season.

It was a beautiful day with calm seas and winds and mild temps ...... what the fishermen would call a 'slicker.' The waters became a gigantic mirror.

Even this seagull and rock made a lovely reflection.
